About

Revd. Dr. D.J. Ajith Kumar has been in social and spiritual service about 40 years, preaching and teaching in India and abroad. He is an ordained Presbyter in the Diocese of Phulbani, the Church of North India (CNI), geographically, the largest protestant Church in India. He is presently working as the General Secretary, CNI Synod, New Delhi (www.cnisynod.org ) with his office in New Delhi, the capital city of India. The Church of North India was established on 29 November 1970 by bringing together the Protestant churches working in northern India. It is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion and a member of the World Methodist Council and the World Communion of Reformed Churches. The Revd. Ajith Kumar is the author of 27 academic as well as devotional books. “God: Real and Religion Concepts of God in Religions in Christological Perspectives” is well known and widely circulated. Some of his songs in Christian music are widely sung irrespective of the Churches. He is blessed with his wife Mrs. Mini, a home maker and two sons, Abhishek and Vivek. Abhishek has done his MBBS and presently working as a Doctor in Bangalore. Vivek, after done BTech (Civil) in College of Engineering, Trivandrum, he is working in a private sector construction company in Trivandrum.

Rev. Ajith Kumar is a member of the C.N.I. Terabadi Church (Phulbani Diocese). Even from childhood, Ajith Kumar was very much interested in Christian ministry. When he was 12 year old, he was asked to preach in his church; it was a World Sunday-School Day. His father prepared the sermon for him from Pro. 1:7 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” That was his first public sermon. The regular family prayer, the church activities and his parents’ inspiration encouraged him to work for the Glory of God. In his own words: “I do not know how it was illuminated in my mind, but from my childhood, I had only one desire; that is, “To Serve the Lord”.

Revd. Ajith Kumar has also founded the Grace Ministries of India (www.graceindia.in), a social and spiritual movement working all over India and abroad. He initiated to begin the Mobile Tent Ministry, a unique approach in Indian mission through which millions heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ both in the rural and urban settings. He also founded four Christian Ashrams (www.kristukripaashram.com), i.e., in Kerala (1993) Tamilnadu (2009), Maharashtra (2002) and Madhya Pradesh (2011). By founding another unique programme, which is adoption of Suffering Families in 2007, he could bring up more than 2000 suffering families to self-reliance.

After he did his Master’s Degree (M.A) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Sociology from Annamalai University. He did his Theological studies – Bachelor of Christian Studies (B.C.S) with the Senate of Serampore College. Further, he took Master in Theology (M.Th) from the Wales University (U.K). He also did his doctoral studies (Ph.D) in Sociology on ‘Education and Tribal Development’ in Annamalai University. His studies in the field of Yoga (M.Sc and P.G.D.C in Yoga) helped to pave the way to present the Gospel in indigenous and indianised approach to the thousands of our countrymen. He has obtained Teacher Training Course in Yoga from the Yoga International Alliance, New Delhi. He has also done Diploma in Buddhism from the Mahabodhi Academy of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Bangalore. Apart from the spiritual activities he had also presented many research papers in various National and International seminars and conferences in the discipline of Sociology. He is a life member of Indian Sociological Society (ISS), New Delhi and Indian Academy of Social Sciences (IASS), Allahabad.
